I struggled but overcame - Post for a Contest by Chennai Bloggers Club

I have been thinking of writing for this post since long. But somehow the fact that I had ‘struggled’ and overcame those struggles to reach where I am today made me feel miserable. Not that my struggles are probably the toughest. I am sure many other fellow bloggers, and for that matter, every person has had their own share of struggles, some worse than mine, some better. Guess that’s the beauty of a struggle. It took me quite some time to figure out what has been the most daunting task for me till date. And, have I been able to overcome it? I don’t know which was harder – to take the decision of changing streams in Class XII, or to take up Journalism in IIMC when I could clear no other exam for a Post-Graduation. Or was it the time when I was well settled in a job, but had to quit and move back to parents because of their insecurity with my relationship. No, may be, it was the time when I wouldn’t find a suitable job and work for peanuts as a Freelancer. But, I think I can safely...

Crossroads

At the threshold of something ominous holding on to the naive dig deep down you'll find the true meaning of life... It isn't your life  that is at the crossroad It is your mind   that refuses to de-clutter thoughts that have formed a cobweb of dreams... Dreams that remain  unfulfilled.. Dreams that remain in the nook of heart.. Dreams that remain like cracks in the glass ready to break into pieces never to be found again... No they aren't lost They are just scattered here and there, everywhere, Dreams that remain omnipresent yet so far... As you dig deep down searching for your dreams clearing away the cobwebs You are at crossroads yet again with neither here nor there to go... Like what you read here? Every Dog Has It's Day!

Disclaimer:  The views expressed in this post are my personal. They may vary from people to people and be different for different circumstances.  The joy of doing something, which you had been contemplating since long, on the very first day of a new month is pure bliss. More so, if it is something that was causing you terrible emotional and mental harassment. I resigned from an organisation where I had joined just a few months ago. It feels bad. Not because I am leaving the organisation but because I made a decision that went horribly wrong. When you join an organisation, you place your hopes as per what you hear, see, and are told about them. But what happens when you join new and all you get to hear is everything negative about the place of work? You tend to flow with the emotions. There are however, high chances that you may want to steer away from all that is negative and strive in pushing yourself to achieve all that will fetch you good. You make new 'friends'; you...

Barren Love

Image
Source I look for the words that I once wrote to describe you, Have they dried away just like our love? Or have they interspersed in our fragmented lives? Our love isn't barren, it is unsettled by the surroundings, Soak in the feelings of a passionate kiss, The untidy bed is a testimony to our passionate love, Our love isn't barren, it is irked by the uneasiness, Soak in the mighty breeze that ruffles your hair, Your unkempt look is a testimony to our passionate love, You are indomitable, you are fearless, yet you presume our love as dead and buried, When I can envisage the road we have often taken, Sometimes whole-heartedly, sometimes half-heartedly, The road less taken is the road that leads to fear, Be what you are, what your soul is, what your mind is, If your mind refuses to budge, then admit it, Our love is barren, blind to the darkness around,  oblivious of the passionate love, Envious of the unkempt look,  suspicious of the u...

Happy Birthday Kaku

Image
#I wanted to post this tomorrow but somehow couldn't wait any longer since I had written this post two days back. So, it is basically an advance Birthday wish for Kaku. Have you ever been fond of someone so dear yet who isn't related to you biologically? Whom you meet one fine day through your parents and who becomes an integral part of your life just like your parents, uncles, aunts, cousins etc. Someone, who is far away from you, whom you hardly remember often yet there are times when you remember them fondly and wish they were there. Someone, who is no longer physically present but has etched a never dying image in your mind. Someone, whom you have loved, not just unconditionally, but with as much love and affection as you would your parents. I have. He is (was) my Soumen Kaku. An uncle, whom I met through my parents. He wasn't related to any of us. He was our family friend's relative's friend. You must be confused by now to what relation did he have with u...

Keep Calm and Stay Positive- Day 5- I am your life

I know its been long past the fifth day and I should have posted it before. But I couldn't manage earlier seriously and so I am a little later than never :) Day 5, Poem Five: I am your life Life isn't about what you have Life isn't about what you have not Life is all about living in the moment Life isn't about only sorrows and grief Life isn't about only happiness and need Life is all about coexisting Such is your life that you seldom find time Yet you behave like you have given all your time Time is important, for you and for me But don't make it look like  yours is more important than mine. Like you, I too am coexisting I may not be the happiest  I may not be the saddest  But what I am is your companion Longing for your belonging I want you to hold me within Like you hold you lover I am your life,  You exist because I do. Don't chide me away Like I am good for nothing Keep me in your spirits  Let yourself flow with time ...

There is light

I bury myself on the comforting sofa Trying to keep the lights dim But I realise that it's already dark As dark as the no moon night Now I want to keep the room lit Brighten it up with lamps and lights But however much I try This light eludes me It looks at me from a distance Laughs an evil laugh Speaks up just when I try to grab it "Didn't I tell you before? Keep me with you, I'll lighten up your world" I argue with it to come back to me I promise it to never let go But it has had its share I have plunged into the darkness, it says Have I really? I think I hear a cry as I think A cry loud enough to wake me up From my dreams As I open my eyes, I see only lights My room is lit bright Now, I laugh an evil laugh and say "There is light at the end of every tunnel"

Books are man's best friend, Indeed

Image
I happened to read this beautiful poem on Facebook. It had been shared by a publishing house' Facebook page. I just thought I ought to share this with everyone here.  The past few days had been a tumultuous one for my family. How grave a natural calamity can be, is realized only when one of your loved ones is a witness or sufferer of that. (I shall write about this at length in my other posts) There might have been several moments in your life too, when you had been let down, when you didn't know what to do at the moment, when the people around you would leave no stone unturned in bringing you down. It is those very moments when that small paperback tucked somewhere in the corner of your shelf gives you the breathing space. The small paperback that you may have been ignoring for quite some time due to your tiring schedules will give you the "right" break that you had been wanting for long.  "Books are man's best friend." Haven't we read thi...

What's My Aim?

Image
What's my aim? Do I know or not? Staring aimlessly at the horizons, That look back at me Seeking answers That I have not. I try to confide in the unknown surroundings, What's gone shall never return, But what lies in the present and the future, Shall be self governed. Yes, I shall be the writer of my destiny But how? For an aimless vision stares at me I am blinded, god knows with what I am burdened, or is it my mind That's crippled by thoughts. My heart yearns to make peace with my mind, But.. Here I am, hardened like stone Still like a potrait, Closed like a shell, Aloof like that barren tree Standing tall on the road that I see, Don't I know? What indeed is my aim? Or is it my oblivion Forcing me to ignore the same.

The Window

You have been there all this while, Without moving anywhere, to change in style, Oh! how will you move? You are just another non-living creature, merely a window, existing for the sake of it, in every house or building or office or car; But The Window,I am talking about, does not exist 'merely,' It is The Window, that has shown me everything A tree stood tall outside it, 13 years ago; It still stands tall, only the leaves wither away every new season; It is the same window, that has accompanied me when I was low or happy; I stared out of it into the sky imagining where my life will be years down the line, penning down some memorable poems, or the love letter; It stayed there, while my life moved from childhood to adulthood; I cried sitting next to it, when I was reprimanded, I cried sitting next to it, when I missed my love, The Window, is still there, only the things outside have changed, so has changed my equation with it, I no longer sit eve...

The Road to a Successful Marriage

Disclaimer: This post was written for a website, however, since I did not get any revert with respect to the post; I decided to upload it on my blog. These are my personal views. They might be different from others. So, please read it keeping an open mind :-) "To Love someone is nothing, to be loved by someone is something but to be loved by the one you love is everything"- Paulo Coelho Indeed, love is not a thing but a feeling that is felt by each one of us. Often this love culminates into a beautiful relationship giving birth to marriage. But as time elapses, this beautiful relationship turns into something that we are alien to. Why does it happen? Don’t you feel like celebrating the 25th 50th or 75th many such jubilees with your better half? Of course, you do. Let us observe what makes a marriage successful. For any marriage, be it love or arranged, the first and most important thing is to build trust. Once you are married to someone, that person not only becomes...

You Do Understand, I know!

Here I come with all the happiness Thinking about how to spend my time with you.   And, such is the time that I don't get to see you I try hard to keep you with me But you are such a nuisance, who does not be with me.   I miss your very presence, but you are least bothered You don't understand that I love you.   Why do I always have to reiterate every word of mine? Are my expressions so hard to understand? Or is it that you want to be away from all that is yours.   You don't understand that I  love you, Or should I say you do? but you pretend not to.   Try and understand As it is not an easy task to do, Learning, Living and Loving, all are juxtaposed within.   You have to understand that  I love you, As I know you do, but you pretend not to.   Do not be heartless, Do not be ruthless, I beg thee, understand Listen to your inner conscience, Listen to what your heart says, Let your sense and sensibility prevail, In the end, it will be your love.   Yo...
