Poetry Trails: #1 Stars and I

Hi Friends, A dear friend of mine had posted the following lines (in italics) on her Facebook status. She loves to write, and more so when it's poetry. There was something that made me write further down those lines. The result- the following poem as you can see. Thus, we both decided that we would blog together about love and positivity on her blog like this. We are calling it "Poetry Trails" wherein, either of us will begin and continue from there on. Hope all of you will like our small gesture in spreading happiness around. By the way, that dear friend of mine is also a brilliant blogger, and you can read her blogs here- "Pretty Mornings" I look at the stars,  and they look back at me.  We do the same thing every night.  There is something about being silent, and looking at each other, They don’t judge, I don’t question them for  being too bright or too dull either,  The silence between us is comforting They let me ponder and think ov...

For teachers, we''ll remain the best!

Conversations that take place after years is often filled with memories- some good, some bad. I am going to talk about one such conversation that I had with my school teacher after almost 9 years. It was a senior from school, who happens to be former colleague too, who messaged me on Facebook asking if I was from the very school where he studied. It turned out that he was a '91 batch pass out, while I started my journey in the same school in '92. As the conversation went along, he asked about a couple of teachers, whom I might have studied from. Of the three names, I knew two. Of those two, one teacher is no more and the other I hadn't spoken to in years. I asked for her number from the senior. He apprised me about my teacher's present situation. She hasn't been going through the best of her times health wise. Suffering from some grave medical problem, she has been on constant dose of medicines. The drugs have not only been painful overall but have also made he...

Conflict of a Wavering Mind

I was sitting on the chair staring at the blank word document. Not sure of what I wanted to write, I simply started scribbling whatever I could fathom. Two lines down, I realized that I have too many thoughts in my mind. And, to give shapes to those thoughts, I would have to sit down, think, re-think and then finally 'pour' them out on the document. But, what exactly then would I write on the blank document? Wouldn't it be better to keep it white and plain, without the scribbling? Or, if I do happen to phrase the perfect sentences, the perfect similes, the perfect idioms, the perfect storyline, will those 'perfections' depict the inner battle that I am going through right now? Right now, where I sit and write, it is quiet. Except for the ceiling fan making the intermittent noise, the shrills and laughter of the children playing down, the sound of the temple bell hinting at the evening prayer session being over, the usual honking of vehicles that just went by, t...

If Only..I Had Taken The First Step

Okay. This post took me quite a while to write. Not just the regular editing, re-writing, re-phrasing, beautifying (not much), etc etc but also feeding, playing, chatting with my baby kept me away from writing this blog. My previous post had mentioned how keen I was to pen down my thoughts. This post too is somewhat going flashback. No, I am not revisiting all the nine months of my pregnancy rather sharing an observation that I made during those nine months. This is one observation that I had long back but it just got better in the past few months. It’s about the people around me- Family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, “Facebook” friends etc. January 4th, 2014 was when I came to Delhi with my mother. Yes, I had quit my job. Not many knew of this except a few close friends, who met me in Delhi and of course, my colleagues and family. In fact, many would get to know through this blog post that I have been jobless since January :-D But like I have always been, I kept myself occup...
