The Wintry Night

The night that was so wintry
The cold breeze brushed aside my hair
I looked around and saw a few
Comforting each other
With an embrace that I longed for
Then and there from you
From your body, your warmth
I tried embracing myself alone
Tears welled up in my eyes
Noticing a bystander staring at me
I pretended to feel cold
The bystander smiled as if
He understood what I faked
Putting his palm out in the cold air
He turned around, and walked
Taking out his white walking stick
A woman walked past and held his hand
I stood their watching as the two
Embraced in the comfort of that night
I stood their watching as the two
Disappeared into the dark wintry night.

"Madam, Aap bohot Kismat Waali hain...Pehla Bachcha..Aur Wo Bhi Ladka..."

I have been itching to write this blog. Not just because I love to write but because the last two months have been quite tiring for me physically, mentally as well as emotionally. Somehow I felt, writing might give my mind a break from all the disturbances. Things had been wandering in my mind since long but I was unable to find the time to put them down into words. While I do not wish to delve much into detail about the overall emotional balance of my mind, I do wish to share something that I underwent while my stint at the hospital, where I delivered my baby. Like they say, “in the history of so and so..” for me too, the birth of my child coincided with a historical change that our country witnessed on the day. I gave birth to a baby boy on May 26th, on the very day, when India swore in its 15th Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Everyone was excited about the fact that the birth of my child will coincide with NaMo’s new birth. But this blog post is not about this coincidence either....

Two States- The Story of "Life After" Marriage

This blog post had been running in my mind since long; especially, after I watched the movie, ‘2 States.’ Though, I thought that I should write a review, but then, it would have been the same as any other review. Hence, I decided to delve into another angle, which I pondered upon while watching the movie. The movie, which is an adaptation of a novel, ‘2 States- The story of my marriage,’ by Chetan Bhagat, does not need any introduction or conclusion. It very succinctly reflects the basic idea of a love marriage in India. Love marriage, that too, between two people belonging to two different states. As Chetan Bhagat mentioned in the book, and like Arjun Kapoor says in the movie, [What is most important in a marriage?- Love. But In India, marriage is a slightly longer process. It is not only about love between a guy and a girl. But also, the guy’s family has to love the girl; the girl’s family has to love the guy.
